UK Rail Reservations
Medway Travel was one of the first ten travel companies in the UK to install a sophisticated fares research and ticketing facility covering all the ATOC rail companies services and fare types, including concessions.
This facility gives speedy access to all the best fares and enables our consultants to advise clients of the optimum times to travel and the best routing and connections for the more complex journeys.
The through tickets and fares can include any London Underground legs of your trip, if these are necessary.
We produce the normal ”smart” (credit card sized) tickets that are recognised by the ticket barriers used in over-ground and London Underground stations. We are also able to provide "Tickets on Departure" for many journeys, although some stations do not yet have the necessary facilities associated with them. We will advise you where this is the case.
One of business’s hidden costs is the time wasted by non-experts trying to do expert’s work, and without the benefit of experts' tools. For example, would you really put a complex legal case in the hands of an amateur solicitor? So, why not ask us to research your optimum fares, which are often not offered by rail company staff.

UK Rail Prepaid Ticket on Departure
Last minute ticket arrangements are now possible with the latest enhancement from our UK rail reservation service.
While we have always been able to co-ordinate rail travel and send tickets to our clients, we now have the facility to arrange ticket collection at most UK rail stations. This removes the risk of postal delay, and is of particular benefit for late bookings, where in the past, we may not have had sufficient time to get the tickets to you.
This facility is available for most ticket types, and user facilities are now avilable at most stations.
How the system works
Once we have made your booking and prepaid on your behalf, we send a confirmation email to you, detailing where the ticket can be collected, together with your 8 character Ticket on Departure (ToD) reference.
This confirmation should be taken to the relevant station, together with a payment card, which will be used purely for identification. Payment will already have been made by us, and will be charged to your or your company's account.
You can then collect your tickets from any one of the special Ticket Vending Machines, or if unavailable at manned station windows.
The ticket vending machine procedure is as follows:
- On the front screen there is a touch area for you to confirm that you are collecting a TOD.
- Simply press this and it will ask you to insert a credit-debit card for identification purposes. It also confirms that this card will not be debited.
- Insert the card, and it will be returned within a couple of seconds
- The screen then prompts you to enter the Ticket on Departure (ToD) reference we have given you
- Enter this and your ticket will then be printed and issued.
- A message confirms that this transaction is successful and directs you, if you have any questions, to the booking office, .
