Safer Travel Arrangements
Medway Travel always tries to ensure the safety of its clients, by booking only with reputable providers. However, allowing for the uncertain and sometimes violent times in which we now live, we have listed below some specific options, which may be of interest to employers and travellers who wish to minimise the risks run when travelling on company business.
There may be some additional cost involved, but the added security and peace of mind afforded by a selected combination of these options, depending on the particular trip or destination, could well be considered to be excellent value.
The options are:
| Avoid using unattended car parks | Careful specification of your hotel facilities |
| Maximise your in-flight privacy | Meet and Greet services |
| Other Safety Measures | Use Executive Lounges at Airports |
Avoid using unattended car parks
- A driven car to and from the airport by taxi or limo, depending on your budget
- Valet parking of travellers own car - i.e. being met at the terminal entrance by a driver from an off-airport car park company, who takes the car away and brings it back to the terminal exit on their return.
- An overnight airport hotel plus parking for the duration of the trip, with courtesy bus to and from the terminal. This avoids the uncertainties of the early morning rush hour, and depending on the length of the trip, can be a cost-effective option, as the car parking can be free. We can arrange this service at both departure and destination points.
Careful specification of your hotel facilities
We recommend you to ensure wherever possible that your hotel bookings include your choice of the following specific features:
- Valet parking, so there is no need for you to walk around large parking lots
- Electronic door locks
- Bedroom doors with "spy-holes" so you can see who is calling on you, before opening the door.
- Your preferred floor selection, e.g. ground floor or not, or readily accessible by stairs in case of an emergency, or female only floors etc.
- "Singles" dining facilities, or, at least, comprehensive room service.
- Speed checkouts, so you will not have to queue and be jostled by impatient strangers in large public reception areas.
(Inevitably hotels with these facilities tend to be 4 and 5 star properties, and a small search fee may be charged if the features you require are not readily locatable in your required destination).
Maximise your in-flight privacy
You may maximise your in-flight comfort and privacy by booking premium cabins - including premium economy. This will provide less densely arranged seating and a higher cabin staff to passenger ratio, making it less likely that you will receive unwelcome attention from other passengers. Any problems can be dealt with easily and quickly.
Meet and Greet services
If you are concerned about negotiating your way through an unfamiliar airport at your destination, perhaps made worse by a late arrival, we can (in most popular, larger airports) arrange for a professional, whose job it is to know that airport intimately, to meet and help you quickly through all the formalities.
The guide will then take you to your hotel courtesy bus, or a taxi, and will ensure the driver is aware of your destination, which helps with any language difficulty.
Alternatively you may wish to hire a car, in which case you will be guided in person to the car rental pick-up point - where they will be expecting you, if pre-booked through Medway Travel Management.
Other Safety Measures
- Pre-booked car and driver to take you to each day's meetings to save having to call/compete for a succession of different cabs.
- A detailed itinerary with maps showing the location of the hotels in the context of the cities you are visiting and principal places of interest.
- Pre-booked rail seat reservations to save your having to find your way about unfamiliar railway stations and queue for tickets.
- Access to a wide choice of personal security devices, including smoke alarms, baggage disturbance alarms, door opening alarms and security belts/pouches for valuables, cash and essential documents.
