Crystal Cruises adds more Mediterranean adventures
Crystal Cruises is introducing 100 new Crystal Adventures in the Mediterranean for 2009.
In total, Crystal will offer more than 500 Mediterranean Crystal Adventures in ports in Italy, Croatia, Greece, Spain, Turkey and Portugal from June through October on seven- and 12-night voyages.
New Mediterranean Crystal Adventures include paragliding over Spain’s Lleida countryside in Barcelona, windsurfing in Bodrum, rafting on the Cetina River in Trogir and hiking along the Amalfi Coast, 1,500 feet above sea level in Sorrento.
Celebrity Eclipse goes on sale
Celebrity Eclipse, the third-ship in the new Solstice class from Celebrity Cruises, is now on sale.
The ship, which will be first to sail for a full season from Southampton, will operate five different European and Mediterranean itineraries from April 2010. Sailings range from four-night taster cruises to Cork to 16-night Eastern Mediterranean cruises.
The first season features new ports of call for Celebrity Cruises including Toulon, Malaga, and Cagliari in Sardinia.
Cunard unveils new Queen Elizabeth ship
Cunard Line’s £365 million new ship, Queen Elizabeth, is scheduled to enter service on 12th October 2010. It will be the second largest Cunard ship ever built, and the third new ocean liner to be introduced by Cunard in six years, giving one of the oldest names in shipping the strength of owning the youngest fleet in the industry.
Queen Elizabeth's Maiden Season will incorporate six voyages visting the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Aegean and Caribbean. The maiden voyage, from Southampton, will trace the steps of QE2 with a 13 night cruise to the Canary Islands, departing on 12th October 2010.
The new ship will pay homage to the original Queen Elizabeth with Art Deco features, tea dances, big band balls and Ivor Novello-style piano evenings. New to the ship will be a games deck featuring bowls, croquet and paddle tennis.
The Garden Lounge, with a vaulted glass ceiling, has been inspired by the glass houses of Kew Gardens in London.
As successor to the newly retired QE2, Queen Elizabeth will reflect the previous ship with artworks, memorabilia and a new version of the QE2’s Yacht Club lounge.
85% of the ship’s 1,046 cabins and suites will have outside views, including two thirds with balconies.
