The future for Italian trains

Rail travel in Italy is set to become faster with the introduction of a network of high-speed trains, run by the chairman of Ferrari.

Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV), the first privately owned high-speed train operator in Italy, will operate a fleet of 25 trains, travelling up to speeds of 225mph.

The new services, called Italo, launching in 2011, will link cities such as Milan, Turin, Bologna, Naples, and Rome, reducing journey times by up to a third.

The fleet of trains, known as AGV, Automotrice Grande Vitesse, a modern version of the French TGV, will bring competition to both the state owned railway, and the national airline, Alitalia, and a greater choice to the travelling public.

We are able to make arrangements for train journeys, in Italy and across Europe, so for your next enquiry, please contact us.
