Dubai Metro System opens

It will now be even easier to see everything that Dubai has to offer

The first stage of the Dubai Metro system is due to open on September 9, running along Sheikh Zayed Road.

The system’s 52km Red Line is nearing completion, with the Green Line due to follow at the start of 2010. In total Dubai Metro will serve 43 stations and cover a distance of 70km, the longest fully automated transport system in the world.

The network will be operated and maintained by Serco, the firm behind London’s Docklands Light Railway, and is predicted to carry around 1.2 million passengers per day.

The Metro will offer easier access to some of the top places of interest that Dubai has to offer, as well as offering residents an efficient and affordable means to commute through the city.

Ever popular with our Leisure clients, Dubai really does offer something for everybody – sun, sea, culture, and almost unlimited activities – even skiing!

Many of our school visitors too, are familiar with Dubai – through their visits to the UK Boarding School Exhibition each February. If anyone is interested in adding additional sightseeing or activities to their next trip, just contact Sue on sue@medwaytravel.co.uk for more details.
