New hotels for Copenhagen
The Danish capital is set to see a rise of around 3,000 hotel rooms over the next two years, with four new hotels this year and a further three planned for 2010. Many have extensive meetings facilities, with a new conference centre also set to launch in the city next year.

Denmark’s first floating hotel, Copenhagen Living opened in June. Located in the inner harbour, ten minutes walk from City Hall Square, the 12-room hotel features rooms decorated by Danish artists.
September will see the full opening of the budget 710-room Cabinn Metro located in the Orestad quarter, near the convention and congress venue Bella Center. The hotel offers a breakfast cafe, lobby bar and business centre, as well as two meeting rooms for up to 30 people.
Wonderful Copenhagen
A new Crowne Plaza property will also open in November, in time to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December. It will offer 366 bedrooms and a 3,500sqm conference centre. Renewable energy sources will provide all the hotel’s energy.
The new Tivoli Congress Centre with a maximum capacity of 4,000 people, will be opening in Copenhagen in late 2010. The development will also be home to the 510-room Wakeup Copenhagen hotel, due to open in November, and the 400-room Tivoli Hotel, which will open in the summer of next year.
Also due to open in 2010 is the largest hotel in Scandinavia, the 814-room Bella Hotel. The property will have 32 conference rooms, including a large ballroom and two executive conference rooms located on the 23rd floor together with the Sky Bar. The development is part of the trade fair and conference venue Bella Center.
Finally, an hour’s drive north of Copenhagen, the Gillileje Spa and Wellness Resort due to open in 2011, will combine a 200-room hotel with a conference centre for up to 350 guests. An 18-hole golf course is located nearby.
Langham to debut in Bangkok
Langham Hotels International is to open two properties in Bangkok in 2012, the group’s first hotels in the Thai capital.
The Langham Sukhumvit Bangkok will be located in the city’s commercial district, and will feature 230 rooms and 80 residences. Facilities will include a spa inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, a swimming pool and fitness centre, a grand ballroom, and two restaurants, including a sister version of the Michelin-starred T’ang Court at the Langham Hong Kong.
Meanwhile the 400-room Langham Place Phayathai Bangkok will be situated close to the Siam Centre retail complex, around 15 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International airport via the city’s airport-rail link. Features include a spa, swimming pool, two restaurants, meeting facilities, and Portal – Work and Play, a hybrid bar and business lounge.
