Information on some of the most famous, interesting and fun events happening around the world in coming months - which you may wish to incorporate into your next holiday or business trip.

October
Truffle Festival, Alba October
An event with a difference!
Taking place over several weekends in October, this Italian festival features truffle markets, where the rare and aromatic fungi are sold to produce culinary treats in local restaurants.
Visitors can follow the truffle hunters as they search along scenic trails, and can later enjoy the delicacies as part of their Italian dining experience.
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, 30th October – 1st November
This latest addition to the Formula 1 calendar follows the arrival of Bahrain, which debuted in 2004. The race will take place on the Yas Island Circuit, on one of the city’s 200 islands. Once completed, the development will include a Ferrari theme park, golf courses, shopping centre and top class hotels.

New York Marathon, 7th November
Dating from 1970 with just 55 runners, the New York Marathon is now the largest in the world, with over 90,000 participants.
Choose to view from the beginning at Staten Island, or from any of the city's Boroughs - Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx or Manhattan - the race unites them all, finishing at the Tavern on the Green in Central Park.
World Invitational Hula Festival, Hawaii 12th - 14th November
World famous for its Hula dancing, Honolulu becomes host to participants from across the globe, with groups judged by Hawaiian hula masters. What better event to celebrate the heart of Hawaiian culture.
December
Christmas Markets, Europe , December
It's that time of year again! An ideal opportunity to break into the festive spirit.
An abundance of delightful markets can be found across the continent, from Prague to the Belgian cities of Brussels and Ostend, from the Eurostar destination of Lille to the Austrian homes of Vienna and Innsbruck. Perhaps most famous are those in Germany, from the oldest in Dresden, the pretty central square of Nuremberg, or the impressive city of Cologne, with its six separate markets attracting 2 million visitors a year.

Sphinx Festival, Egypt 1st - 5th December
Taking place at the Pyramids of Giza, Cairo's Sphinx Festival is a gathering point for artists, scholars and Egyptologists. Connecting art and science, the event is alive with dance shows, music and a variety of seminars devoted to themes ranging from Egyptian cosmology to sacred geometry.
