Armani Hotels to open in Dubai

Armani Hotels has confirmed its first property will open on March 18, with the unveiling of the Armani Hotel Dubai.

Housed within the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, the hotel marks the debut of the Armani Hotels and Resorts brand, with a second property under development in Milan, and further hotels, resorts and residences planned for Marrakech and Marassi (Egypt), as well as key international destinations such as New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and London.

Hyatt Hotels to increase presence in China

Hyatt Hotels  has announced it is to add more than 1,000 new rooms to its China portfolio by 2013.

The Hyatt Regency Wuxi and Hyatt Regency Xuzhou will debut in 2012, followed a year later by the Grand Hyatt Nanjing. All three properties will be located within China’s Jiangsu province on the country’s Eastern coast.

The 350-room Hyatt Regency Wuxi will be part of a larger two-tower development which will also hold serviced apartments, office space, a shopping arcade and other leisure facilities. The hotel itself will have four restaurants, an 800sqm ballroom and ten meeting rooms, and also a spa and fitness centre.

The Hyatt Regency Xuzhou, also due to open in 2012, will take up the upper most levels of a new 60-floor development in Xuzhou city centre. Along with 350 guestrooms, the hotel will offer restaurants, a grand ballroom and a fitness centre. The hotel will sit within one of five new towers, all forming the new development.

The Grand Hyatt Nanjing will be the last of the three properties to open in 2013 in Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu province. Again part of a larger mixed-use development, the Grand Hyatt will sit alongside serviced apartments, a shopping mall and other leisure facilities. Like the previous two properties, the 400-room hotel will also come with a grand ballroom, extensive meetings facilities and a spa and gym.

Six Hyatt-branded hotels have opened in Greater China in the past 18 months, including the Park Hyatt Shanghai, Park Hyatt Beijing, Grand Hyatt Macau, Grand Hyatt Shenzhen, Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin, and the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Now part of the upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand, The Wyndham Apollo Hotel Amsterdam joins the brand’s luxury Wyndham Grand London Chelsea Harbour, which has recently undergone a major refurbishment programme and 230 European properties spanning several of the Wyndham Group’s 11 brands.

Hilton opens in Liverpool

Hilton has officially opened its first core-brand property in Liverpool, a 215-room hotel located within the Liverpool One shopping and retail complex, and next to the city’s regenerated Albert Docks.

The huge Liverpool One development has transformed the city centre since it opened in 2008, with major retail offerings including a flagship John Lewis department store and dozens of new bars and restaurants. The development has also bridged the gap between the city centre and the Albert Docks (where attractions such as the Tate Liverpool are housed), and the adjacent Museum of Liverpool, due to open next year. The Hilton Liverpool itself is located on the edge of the Liverpool One project, with rooms overlooking the development's Chivasse Park and the docks.

Hotel features include 215 rooms with a total of twelve suites, a seventh-floor executive lounge, a business centre, gym, and wifi internet access throughout. For meetings there are eight function rooms plus the Grace Suite ballroom for up to 400 delegates theatre-style, while F&B options include Exchange restaurant and Pima bar. There are also plans to add a spa facility in the near future in an empty area of the property, along with a further “destination bar”.
