Radisson Blu names new property in Milan


The Chedi Milan is to be rebranded under Rezidor's Radisson Blu name this year, marking the second for the brand in Italy.

The 250-room hotel originally opened in 2007, but will now be rebranded as the Radisson Blu Hotel, Milan in early 2010. The property is located north of the city centre, close to Milan's two trade fairs. Rooms average 37sqm, and feature an "Asia meets Italy" style. Facilties include a restaurant and bar, 800sqm of meeting space, a spa, and an indoor swimming pool.

This addition to the hotel chain in Italy, will join the 232-room Radisson Blue Es hotel in Rome.


Intercontinental Paris Avenue Marceau opens


InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the Intercontinental Paris Avenue Marceau, its 28th property in Paris, located near to the city's Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees.

The 55-room property was until recently the Crowne Plaza Paris Champs Elysees, which first opened in 2008. The hotel is located within three separate heritage buildings from different historical periods. As well as its guestrooms, the hotel has two penthouse suites, one of which is terraced with views of the Eiffel Tower. Le M64, the hotel’s conservatory restaurant, opens on to a courtyard with outdoor seating during the summer. Each bedroom has Bang & Olufsen sound systems and Nespresso coffee machines. Other hotel facilities include meeting suites and a 24-hour gym.

The Intercontinental Paris Avenue Marceau is one of 28 hotels in the city and 63 hotels across France operating under one of Intercontinental Hotel Group's seven brands.


Sheraton to refurbish Edinburgh property


TThe Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh is to benefit from a refurbishment of its guest rooms and suites, with a new Grand Suite and executive Club floor being added.

The hotel celebrates its 25th anniversary next year, and will start the revamp in January, with completion due by July. All rooms will get a makeover, with mood lighting, media hubs, the brand’s signature Sweet Sleeper bed, and and new glass-walled bathrooms, featuring separate bath and walk-in showers.

As the rooms are spread across two wings, the work will be carried out in two phases in order to minimise disruption to for guests. The hotel’s room count will also be increased to 268, and a Club floor will be created on the top floor of the hotel, complete with a lounge offering complimentary continental breakfast, evening drinks, canapes, and wifi internet access.
