About Barcelona

Barcelona is a unique city: welcoming, Mediterranean, historic, cultural, bonvivant, avant-garde, well communicated, well equipped, a place you can rely on with its own particular lifestyle.

Barcelona today is a dynamic and welcoming city which has established itself as one of the great economic and business centres of the Mediterranean.

Barcelona is a city of great contrasts: founded by the Romans, where the gothic style lives harmoniously with the most advanced contemporary architecture.

A first-class tourist destination, Barcelona is the ideal place for meetings and congresses. The city continues to enjoy spring-like climatic conditions, and with a coastline stretching more than 4km, the beaches are the largest and most popular leisure spaces of the urban landscape.

Suggested Activities and Excursions

Please remember these are just suggestions of fantastic things to do and see during your event in Barcelona - our Groups and Events team will be delighted to tailor make a conference, meeting, exhibition, event or team building trip to Spain to your exact requirements.

The Gaudi Tour

Your group can visit the most emblematic monuments of the catalan architect, Antoni Gaudi, who was one of the most important modernist style architects worldwide. Your guests will be picked up from your hotel, where the fun will start on the bus. You will visit Casa Calvet, Casa Batllo, Sagrada Familia, and Parc Guell.

The visit will be accompanied by Gaudi-dressed characters, who will be waiting at one of the stops, and will offer a present to your delegates when they leave the coach. Another option is to stop at one of the most famous tapas bars to taste some delicious tapas and refresh yourselves with a cool drink.

Legends of the Gothic Quarter

Long before many cities were founded, the kingdom of Catalonia was a bastion of art and architecture. Barcelona's ancient city centre - which was surrounded by walls during Roman times - makes up what today is the Gothic Quarter.

Surrounding Barcelona's impressive cathedral, medieval palaces emerge such as Casa dels Canonges, La Pia Almoina, and Casa d'Ardiaca. Whether the Gothic Quarter (or Barri Gotic as it's called in Catalan) is truly Gothic is the subject of endless debate, but it is one of the most evocative neighbourhoods in Spain, and hides lots of bewitching places with many stories to tell.

Its richly textured streets, quiet squares, attractive corners, gurgling fountains, vintage stores and ancient fortifications inspired such as artists as Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro (who was born in this neighbourhood). This tour will include a guided tour to the Cathedral.

Barcelona by Bike

This is the way to see some of the most outstanding buildings and hidden corners in this cosmopolitan Mediterranean city.

At the meeting point, once your group have their bicycles and after a brief safety introduction, you will be ready to start this exciting but relaxing ride along the amazing streets of the city centre. Just follow your guide and enjoy watching the atmosphere and the people. You will stop at some representative sites so the guide can explain the curiosities of its history! You will divide into three groups for this activity - after the bike tour we recommend lunch in the port.

Camp Nou Experience

Discover the most attractive and fascinating sights of the city. We offer a private bus excursion where they will visit the most interesting points this city has to offer.

The Barcelona CF stadium is the biggest football stadium in Europe, with capacity for 98,800 seated spectators. The guided visit of the Museum and the complete tour of the stadium will take you over the 100 years of football history. You will find a modern museum with interactive murals and you will see all different prizes and cups on display.

You will experience life in Camp Nou, in the same way that footballers such as Cruyff, Maradona and Ronaldinho have in the past. You will tour around the changing rooms, press room, TV area, President and authorities seats, and the channel to the entrance of the pitch, where you will be able to appreciate the stadium.

Discovering Sitges and Montserrat

Sitges, the beautiful village of the coast of Barcelona with great views over the Mediterranean sea and the beach. Sitges was a retreat for Bohemian artists at the beginning of the century. Its beautiful beaches and its proximity to Barcelona made it a major tourist attraction, but its charm is still preserved in the old part.

The waterfront invites you to a promenade along the beach and the numerous shops in the narrow streets of the Old Town await you for a short shopping tour before the excursion ends with your return to Barcelona.

Montserrat

Driving across picturesque little villages of the province, we reach the outstanding Montserrat Mountain, situated at an altitude of 1,235m (about 4,320 ft). Visit of the Royal Basilica, where the famous XII century Romanesque sculpture of Virgen Morenta shall be admired.

The mountain and monastery of Montserrat are one of the most emblematic places in Catalunya, not only for its beautiful landscape, but also for its historical, political and religious meaning. Enjoy wlaking around to discover deserted hermitages or sample the regional traditional food.

Cava Tasting Experience

The famous Penedes region is the first stop during this full day excursion. Penedes is one of the world's most famous wine growing regions.

The beautiful landscape characterised by the mixture of mountains and sea, small rural towns on the top of rolling hills, farms, vineyards and bodegas represents an interesting contrast to the metropolitan character of Barcelona.

The wineries, also called bodegas - some of them are real architectural jewels - produce the sparkling wine called Cava for which the region is well known all over the world.

You will visit one of the most impressive bodegas in the region, which is famous for its Cava production. During the guided tour through the bodega you will learn about the history and how Cava is produced.

Champagne is a sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France, according to the traditional champagne method. Cava is a sparkling wine made in Spain according to the traditional champagne method.

Afterwards, you will have a cava tasting session and picnic lunch.

Catalan Traditions and Paella Cooking Contest

You will divide into smaller teams, and rotate enjoying different activities and learning catalan traditions.

One activity, the Human Towers, is based on teaching your team how to build Human Towers with the Catalan technique. People talk about building a team, working as a team, but few understand how to create the experience of teamwork or how to develop an effective team.

The paella cooking contest starts with a brief introduction, and once the teams are ready to start cooking, each will be introduced to their chef, who will be on-hand to give advice throughout the preparation process. Each team has to prepare and cook to the best of their ability in order to arrive with the most exquisite tasting paella possible.

Finally, the paellas will be judged.
