The Danube Express offers a unique, sophisticated approach to touring, enabling you to explore interesting and extraordinary places from the comfort of the private train, which is limited to just 42 passengers.

The Danube Express offers a choice of five journeys, incorporating visits to Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Turkey.

Imagine the thrill of boarding in Istanbul and journeying thorugh six countries to the shores of the Baltic, of travelling through Transylvania and Bulgaria to Istanbul, to wake up and glimpse Asia across the Bosphorus. Before you drift off to sleep, lulled by the rhythm of the train, watch the Great Hungarian Plain, the Tatras or the Danube roll by in the twilight.

Journeys start in Budapest, Istanbul or Warsaw. All feature scenic daytime travel, stopping en route in intriguing places where you may choose to join the included sightseeing tour, explore on your own or simply linger on board.
 

The Danube Express also offers Fully Escorted Holidays for those who prefer to have all arrangments taken care of. These holidays combine stays in hotels with a journey on the Danube Express. A professional Tour Manager is with you throughout to ensure everything runs smoothly. With transport, accommodation, most meals and sightseeing included, you are free to unwind and make the most of your holiday. These holidays can also be tailored to suit you - we offer flexible travel arrangements, flight upgrades, plus addtional hotel nights to extend your holiday in your favourite destinations.


Accommodation
 

Comprised of just eight cars, there is a maximum capacity of 42 passengers. Four newly reconstructed Deluxe sleeping cars offer the last word in guest comfort. Each car has just five, beautifully appointed compartments with two lower beds and en suite shower/WC.
 

Single travellers enjoy charming Classic compartments in a restored historic car, steeped in history, yet with a shower available.
 

Each car has a dedicated attendant to take care of your every need, from a morning cup of tea to the evening when you compartment is transformed into a cosy bedroom.


Dining
 

The Restaurant and Lounge cars, also lovingly restored, provide the heart and social hub of the Danube Express. Each meal offers an inimitable fusion of fine food, good company and panoramic views whilst the Lounge, with its comfy sofas, tables and chairs provides the perfect place to rendezvous for a drink, relaxed conversation or perhaps after dinner, a little music from our resident pianist.
 

On board, the emphasis is on service, comfort and informality, so dress as you wish, the choice is yours. All meals are included and complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks are served.
