Morzine and The Alps

A regular on the Tour de France circuit, Morzine is at the heart of the ‘Portes du Soleil’ area. Whilst the town is a famous ski resort during the winter months, it becomes a mountain activity paradise in the summer.

A combination of a charming town, spectacular landscapes and thrilling activities make Morzine the perfect base for an active adventure for students and teachers alike.

Situated just an hour from Geneva, the town is very easily accessible from the UK by car, and for this reason, we can provide the trip as a self-drive option. Of course, we can also arrange flights and transfers if you prefer.

Morzine Activity School Trips - Canyoning, Hiking, Hydrospeeding, Mountain Biking, River Rafting

For all of our school trips to Morzine, we include an excellent Multipass card, which provides free entry to the ice rinks, swimming pools, tennis courts, skate parks and all open chair lifts and cable cars within the ‘Portes du Soleil’ area.

Medway Travel will be delighted to tailor make your school trip to the Alps with as many activites as preferred. We recommend this trip for pupils aged 11 and over.

Below we have provided a day-to-day itinerary for an example trip, to give an idea of the activities offered and what they involve.

Day One - Arrival and welcome

This holiday is self drive so you can arrive in Morzine throughout the day. If you prefer to fly to France we can of course arrange flights to Geneva and coach hire or transfers for you.

This evening you will meet with your host, Simon Evans for a welcome meeting and dinner.

Day Two - Alpine exploration hike

You start the week with a cable car ride and then a guided walk to a lovely mountain chalet where you will all enjoy a traditional Savoyarde lunch. After lunch, for those who wish, you have a chance to try your hand at trout fishing in a lake.

This is an excellent introduction to the area and provides the perfect opportunity for the students to bond.

Day Three - Mountain biking

It’s an introduction into the sport so you will be taught the necessary skills to make your conversion from road riding to being an all mountain biker! You can hire bikes privately at other times in the week to continue exploring with the extensive lift system if you wish.Today is an introduction to mountain biking in the Portes du Soleil, an area famous for its summer trails. You will take advantage of some of the finest mountain biking trails in the world during a 14km cross country ride.

Day Four AM: Rafting PM: Hydrospeeding

Morzine Activity School Trips - Canyoning, Hiking, Hydrospeeding, Mountain Biking, River Rafting You’ll all take a short drive following the river from Morzine to a base near Lake Geneva. The Dranse runs at grade 3+ / 4 and provides plenty of thrills (and hopefully not too many spills) during a 6km descent.

You’ll raft first in groups of 7 before taking lunch at the river side base and preparing for a second descent on hydrospeeds. Hydrospeeding gets you very close to the water so you will need good water confidence.

Day Five – Free Day

Today you have the chance to undertake a whole variety of optional activities and don’t forget that your Multipass allows you to access the lift systems (without bikes) the pool and the skate parks for free.

A firm favourite with previous visitors is the Fantasticable – an incredibly exhilarating flight over the mountains on two of Europe’s longest and highest zip wires, covering nearly 2 miles, 800 feet above the ground at 60 mph! Afterwards why not reward yourself with a drink in the famous ‘Goat village’ of Les Linderets?

Other activities include canoeing, climbing, paragliding, via ferrata, golf, or a visit to Geneva, Chamonix or Evian les Bains.

Day Six - Adventure park

This high ropes course takes you through the forest and over the ‘Cascade de Nyon’ waterfall on a series of tricky obstacles designed to get the pulse racing!

At the end there is a zip wire adventure with 6 separate wires stretching around the park and over the waterfall, giving you an incredible great bird’s eye view.

In the afternoon there’s some free time for you to relax, explore or try some additional activities.

Day Seven - Canyoning

There’s no long walk in to this canyon, but there is a spectacular 40m entrance via a controlled descent from a foot bridge!

It's then a series of slides, jumps and abseils as you make your way downstream.  It’s a great end to an exciting and varied week. In the evening you will all get together to share your favourite memories of the trip and bid your farewells.

Day Eight - Depart or extend your stay
